The Adams Central Lady Jets golf team made history on Thursday, September 19, at Chestnut Hills Golf Club in the IHSAA Homestead Sectional. With a team score of 410, the Lady Jets secured a 3rd place finish, earning a spot in the Regional round for the first time in school history, boys or girls. The Lady Jets showed grit and balance across their lineup on a challenging sectional course. Leading the way was freshman Londyn Smith, who posted a 91 (42-49) to finish in 7th place overall. Junior Adrienne Johnson carded a steady 99 (52-47) to place 15th, while classmate Lily Johnson finished close behind with a 105 (54-51) for 19th. Sophomore Tenley Hendricks tallied a 115 (60-55) to finish 36th, and senior Sophie Johnson rounded out the team with a 121 (60-61), placing 44th. The Lady Jets turned in a team score of 208 on the front nine and followed it with a composed 202 on the back nine. Their consistent play earned them the sectional podium finish and cemented their spot among the top three advancing teams. Head coach Nick Smith praised the team’s milestone accomplishment. “This is a special moment not just for these girls but for Adams Central golf as a whole. To be the first team, boys or girls, to advance out of sectionals shows how hard they have worked all season. They have earned this, and now we get the chance to compete at Regionals together.” The Lady Jets will now advance to the IHSAA Regional on Friday, September 26, at Noble Hawk Golf Club, carrying both the momentum of their sectional podium finish and the pride of being the first Adams Central golf team to ever reach this stage.
