Jacob Miller drove in four runs on two hits to lead Adams Central Varsity Jets past Fort Wayne Crusaders 10-3 on Wednesday. Miller singled in the first inning, scoring two runs, and singled in the sixth inning, scoring two. Adams Central jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Ethan Funk doubled, scoring one run, and Miller singled, scoring two runs. Fort Wayne Crusaders tied the game up in the bottom of the third thanks to two singles. Fort Wayne Crusaders tied the game at three on a single by S Merica. In the top of the fourth, the Jets broke up the tie when an error scored one run. Then a fielder's choice by Reece Hammond followed to extend the lead to 5-3. AC scored five runs on five hits in the top of the sixth inning. Hammond singled, scoring one run, Miller singled, scoring two runs, Max Byerly grounded out, scoring one run, and a passed ball scored one run. Funk earned the win for Adams Central. The pitcher surrendered six hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out nine and walking two. H Merica took the loss for Fort Wayne Crusaders. The hurler went three innings, allowing three runs on four hits, striking out four and walking two. Adams Central Varsity Jets piled up 12 hits in the game. Lawson Deathe, the number eight hitter, led Adams Central with three hits in four at bats. Colston Pruitt collected two hits in five at bats. Deathe stole two bases. AC stole four bases in the game. Merica, B Cashdollar, Merica, T Schifferus, C Bontragee, and #28 each collected one hit for Fort Wayne Crusaders. Merica and Merica were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Fort Wayne Crusaders. Adams Central will travel to South Adams for their next game on Thursday.
