Adams Central Varsity Jets Come Up Short Against Canterbury

Adams Central Varsity Flying Jets lost to Fort Wayne Canterbury 7-6 on Wednesday. The Jets were the first to get on the board in the first when Lawson Deathe singled, scoring two runs. Fort Wayne Canterbury took the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the second thanks to singles by Jack Landgraf, and Aaden Nicely. AC took the lead in the top of the third. Deathe grounded out, scoring two runs, to give the Jets the lead, 4-3. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Canterbury went back into the lead after JP Rohwer tripled to center field, and Noah Hayes singled to center field, each scoring one run. Rohwer earned the win for Canterbury. The starter gave up nine hits and six runs (three earned) over seven innings, striking out three and walking two. Chandler Voglewede took the loss for Adams Central. The hurler went four and one-third innings, surrendering five runs (three earned) on nine hits, striking out three and walking two. The Varsity Jets amassed nine hits in the game. Deathe led AC with three runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-4 on the day. Colston Pruitt led the Jets with three hits in four at bats. Reece Hammond collected two hits in four at bats. Hammond stole three bases. AC stole five bases in the game and turned two double plays in the game. Canterbury tallied 12 hits in the game. Landgraf led with two runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The outfielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Rohwer went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Cavaliers in hits. Hayes and Will Hirschy each collected multiple hits for Canterbury. The Varsity Flying Jets play at home on Thursday against Jay County in their next game.
